Classes

Our schedule

After teaching a daily Mysore programme for over 5 years in Berlin, we are currently taking a break from teaching regular classes. However, there are still opportunities to practice with us:

October 2025 |  Italy | Sorrento
From September 27th - 11th October we will be teaching our yearly Italy retreat on an organic farm, located directly at the beautiful Amalfi Coast. Besides daily Mysore Classes and a weekly Led-Class, there will be asana and theory workshops, as well as daily meditation. You can find all the details and impressions of the last years here:

Keep in touch
We’ll continue returning to Italy every October, teaching workshops and covering Mysore programs until we have set up a new Mysore Program. We are currently working on making this possible in a sustainable way. To stay up to date about our teaching schedule, you can sign up to our Ashtanga Yoga Darśana newsletter.

Coming to practice with us

We teach and practice the traditional form of Ashtanga Yoga “Mysore Style” yoga, as taught to us by our teachers. Our classes are suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Each student is guided individually to learn the Ashtanga Yoga system at a suitable pace.

In Sanscrit the undisturbed passing of knowledge from teacher to student, known as Parampara, is the very basis of teaching, learning and practicing Yoga. Parampara acknowledges the importance of following a method with the guidance of a teacher. Sharing this understanding, we feel that forming a good student-teacher relationship is fundamental for passing on the knowledge of the Ashtanga Yoga practice.

Tom teaches in English, Julia in German and English.

Ashtanga Yoga for Beginners

  • Yes, absolutely. In a Mysore class, each student is taught individually, meaning absolute beginners and established practitioners are practicing at the same time, with everyone focusing on their own practices. So each class is suitable for all levels, and beginners are always very welcome.

  • The Mysore class is designed so that you can ‘drop in’. This means you can turn up any time during the class. Each student is guided individually by the teacher to learn the Vinyasa sequence and system at a suitable pace.

  • For a beginner the class takes approx. 45-60 min. With more experience the practice might take 90-120 min.

  • According to the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga method, it’s intended to be practiced 6 days per week except for the full and new moon days. This means that a normal week consists of either 5 or 6 days Ashtanga Yoga Practice, with one steady rest day and the additional moon day every other week.

Building and maintaining this daily practice requires a sustainable approach in each practice, which feels very different from getting on the mat only a few times per week. We practice and teach according to the Ashtanga yoga system and therefore recommend a daily practice.

However, we are aware that practicing Ashtanga 6 days a week might not be possible for everyone and are super happy to welcome every practitioner to our community.

  • We advise women to take additional rest during the first 2-3 days of their period.

Each new and full moon days are additional rest days, on which it’s recommended to not practice. We do not teach on these days.

It’s advised that you do not practice with a fever.

Besides that, there are generally very few reasons not to practice. As Ashtanga Yoga Mysore is taught individually, there are always options to adjust your personal practice to your current circumstances, such as injury or sickness. We are always happy to support you in doing so.

    • Please take a shower in the morning before class and bring a small towel for adjustments.

    • Yoga should always be practiced on an empty stomach while the digestive system is at rest. Therefore it’s not recommended to eat in the morning or drink just before class.

    • There are no classes on full and new moon. For reference, please see the moon calendar below.

  • You can join us on our Ashtanga Yoga Retreat in Italy, which is also suitable for complete beginners. During our retreat we offer an additional beginners class on the first day of each week. We’re always happy to meet new people and to introduce you to the Ashtanga Yoga method.
